About Digital Scrapbooking Downloads

Donna asks…

When downloading digital scrapbooking materials.... what is RAR?

I often find file extensions with RAR and I apparently don't have it, so I can use them. What program uses this?

Scrappy answers:

RAR is the native format of WinRAR archiver (like winzip). Like other archives, RAR files are data containers, they store one or several files in the compressed form. After you downloaded RAR file from Internet, you need to unpack its contents in order to use it.

Go to http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm to download WINRAR and extract the files you need.

Anyone know about digital scrapbooking?

I downloaded some free scrapbook layouts online. How do I edit the png files and drop my pics onto the page? Which program is decent and inexpensive?

Scrappy answers:

Use CropMom to create your digital scrapbook pages. It's a much easier way to learn digital scrapbooking. CropMom was created by a digital scrapbooker, so the site is entirely geared toward digital scrapbooking.

1. Register and upload your photos.
2. Click Get Started. Choose New Layout or you can click Open Template to use a pre-made layout that is fully editable.
3. Drag and drop your photo onto the canvas. Choose graphics and drag and drop them.
4. You can select photos or graphics to rotate them and resize them. Photos can be changed to black and white or sepia tone.
5. Add text.
6. Save your layout, then go to the My CropMom page and click on it.
7. You can now: download the low-resolution version of your layout for free; share your layout via e-mail with friends or purchase the high-resolution, print-quality layout for printing at home or to have it printed by a photofinisher.

It's much easier and much less expensive than purchasing a complicated graphics program to use.

Digital Scrapbooking online WE NEED GOOD SITE !?

me and my friend are trying to make a scrapbook online and we need a website that you DONT have to download anything . Please leave a link below ! Thanks.

Scrappy answers:

New customers can get free shipping on an 8x8" book, total comes to around $7. The software takes a little getting used to, but is really nice. Very high quality, nicely-done books.

Another one I've used is http://www.mycanvas.com. The software is a little easier to use, but the finished product isn't nearly as nice. It's also more expensive.

Best of luck!

Free digital scrapbooking for Mac?

I have a MacBook Pro, and I want to scrapbook digitally!! The only thing I can seem to find is the iRemember free trial, but it doesnt come with much, and Its only a 15 day trial, and almost $50 to purchase the software!!
Does anyone know any actual programs I can download (or even just use online!) for Mac?
Thanks!
And I'd rather use a software than use Photoshop or Elements, etc. Thanks!

Scrappy answers:

I use PhotoMix on my Mac which is a Windows software and it won't work on a Mac (unless you have a Windows emulator). After I got a Windows emulator it works great for me.
