Scrapbook Covers

Susan asks…
Why did the plastic covers over my scrapbook pages crinkle?
My mom and I made a scrapbook and about an hour ago we put the plastic covers over the pages to prevent them from getting messed up. We went to go get something in town and came back and on almost every page there is crinkle spots about the size of a lemon. It looks like someone put heat on it. But we had it closed the whole time. Help?

Scrappy answers:
It could be a number of things. It could even be the quality of the product of there could have been a fault in the manufacturing...

Mandy asks…
Does Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and ACMoore do custom scrapbook covers? ?
For my organization called Society for the Advancement of Management, I've decided to make a scrapbook. It would be our first ever! I would like to have a custom made cover with club name on it and be able to add as many scrapbook pages as possible. Does Hobby Lobby, ACMoore, or Michaels do this? Any other common store?

Scrappy answers:
No, none of the stores you list ever personalized their scrapbooks. Scrapbook stores have this service, but I have noticed most of the sbs around me have stop doing this.
Start by checking with small private scrapbooking stores by you. Check with engraving stores, they may be able to heat emboss on the cover. Or try an stick on engraving plate that you can put on the album.
All scrapbooking albums come apart for you to add pages to.

Lisa asks…
Scrapbook protective covers?
Please someone help. Okays so I went toWalmartt the other day andboughtt these Hinged Pages & Slip-On Protective Sleeves that I THOUGHT we like those things that you use to put cover over your scrapbook pages before you put them in your book. I know some books come with them and mine did but I used all of them and wanted to buy some more to add into my book but when I bought these my pages didn't fit. They hang out of the sleeve my half an inch and I really don't want to trim the pages but these sleeves are just too small. My scrapbook is 21in x 12in and the sleeves are too...or aresupposedd to be. So I waswonderingg did I buy the wrong thing? My sister thinks these are for photo albums and not a scrapbook. If they are what are the scrapbook covers called and where can I get them?? Thanks!! ![]()
Oops sorry. My album IS 12 by 12.
I don't know what brand my book is. And how to take the pages out. If I post pictures will that help?

Scrappy answers:
There are several different kinds of binding used on scrapbooks, and accordingly different types of page protectors. The best thing to do is to take off one of the protectors that came with the book and go to a scrapbooking or craft store where there are more selections and make sure you get a package of the same type. The people there will have no problem helping you with this.
Have fun and be creative!

Mary asks…
How to make a scrapbook cover by yourself?
I'm planning on making a scrapbook (and I don't intend to buy one) but what can I use to make the scrapbook cover? Please don't say wood or leather, because I don't have any of those!

Scrappy answers:
Well you can,
* splash different colors of paint all over the book.
*or you can cut your favorite celebreties, singers, authors, or illustrators and stick in a messy place.
*or you can cut your pictures, family picture, class pictures, friends etc.. And stick it.
*get a piece of old cloth, like jeans and cut it and staple it to the copy book from down and add little flowers or stuff the pops, or u can put it plain.
*or get a news paper cut it in different sizes and stick it.
Hope i helped honey

Helen asks…
What are some good ways to decorate a vinyl scrapbook cover?
I am almost done with my daughter's 1st scrapbook and now I want to decorate the cover which is plain dark blue vinyl. What kind of materials would be good for this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Scrappy answers:
I would want to make it a little 3-d with fibers and fabrics or buttons. You could use ribbon and/or lace tied around the cover or spine in a pretty bow. If you decorate the spine you can still stand the album in a book case. Attach some flowers and charms to the ribbon, and/or make a little felt teddy or duck to add to the ribbon. Or make a string of alphabet beads and tie them in with the ribbon.
Stickers work on vinyl but they may look a little worn over time? I would be tempted to try some chipboard letters or shapes instead. The adhesive on them is often pretty strong and they may hold up better than stickers over time. You could spell out your baby's name on the cover with them.
You can rubber stamp with permanent ink on vinyl (use something like Stazon or Memento ink).
Alcohol inks should work on a inyl surface so you could alter the look completely with them:
Here are some examples of how alcohol inks look when you use them to create backgrounds:

You could decorate a sheet of acetate with stamps and alcohol inks and punch some holes in it, then thread it with ribbon to attach to your cover.
I hope these ideas give you some inspiration!
