Photo Book Scrapbook

Laura asks…
Making a .... Scrapbook/photo book/album?
I ordered a couple 4x6 and 5x7 photos for christmas presents and I want to create a small little photo book scrapbook /album type thing to put them in, but I have no idea how to do any of the three. I need it to be something where I can use things around the house because I cannot go out and buy anything...does anyone have any ideas or sites that could help me out? Help is much appreciated, thanks

Scrappy answers:
You can make really pretty albums with stuff you have around the house.
First, take 2 pieces of cardboard just a little bigger than your photo. Set them down one on top of the other and tape up one end to make a spine. Use a nice wide tape.
Glue or tape plain paper to the inside covers, or use old wrapping paper or greeting cards - anything smooth.
On the outside, make paper mache medium out of white glue with water, or use decoupage medium if you have any - and tear up bits of crepe paper, tissue paper, paper napkins, even flower petals - whatever you have that's pretty. Bunch them up on the front and back of the album and slather them with the glue.
After that's dry, cut 2 sheets of plain paper to the same size as your photo or a tiny bit bigger, but still the same size but double the width so that you can fold each sheet to make 2 pages. Open your album and place the open pages on top of it.
With a large needle, run some ribbon through all layers, including the spine of the book. Now you can mount your picture and whatever else you would like, onto the 8 pages. I wish I had some pictures for you but I just thought it up!

Mary asks…
Can making a photo book scrapbook help stroke victims?

Scrappy answers:
Probably, yes

Sandy asks…
What's the best place to order a photo book scrapbook?
I'm planning a photo book with a bunch of my dog's photos.
In case you don't know what I mean, you digitally make the pages to look like real scrapbook pages, and the publisher prints it for you. I'm thinking about using Lulu, but do you have any other recommendations? Thanks!

Scrappy answers:
It depends on where you live; your area. We can hardly guess that.

Lisa asks…
Have you ever used a scrapbook format to make a cute story book for your child?
I just recently started my daughter's scrapbook and I think it's so fun! I am thinking about making a story book using scrapbook material and photos or pictures from magazines or even just drawing them myself. A mix of all of that.
Has anyone else tried this?

Scrappy answers:
I have a small photo album with the envelope type pockets for photos and have cut up cards from birthdays/halloween (and even some from baby showers I had before he was born!), pictures of his toys, friends and family and put them all in there. He LOVES it! We can add to it and it's filled with things just for him. Using the same idea with a scrapbook would be great!
My son is only 1 but once he's older and truly enjoys proper stories, I fully plan on doing the scrapbook stories featuring our pet cat, him and other people. I'm not into full and proper scrapbooking, but this works well as a simple version. (Plus he can drool on it without it getting damaged haha)
He loves any and all stickers right now - so sometimes I put in a full sheet of them and he goes WILD when he sees them. Plus, it's somewhere for him to stick the stickers other than on my face and trying to put them on the cat.
Have fun making your books! They will turn into treasured keepsakes I'm sure. When she's a bit older (you didn't say how old she was) she can help you decide what goes in the book and you two can make make them together - or make other books for family members as gifts. (What grandparent wouldn't want one?!)

Mandy asks…
does windows vista premium come installed with ARCSOFT photo software?
when I check my installed programs on my windows vista premium (emachines computer) I find 4 programs from softarc, like photo book, scrapbook, calender, print creations, Do I need them? I do plug in my digital camera and download pictures, I print some, e-mail some,re-edit most, I think I have windows photo smart already installed, I want to un-install them, to add more memory for my Recovery-D drive, so I'm removing programs I don't use, can somebody help me out there?

Scrappy answers:
DO NOT TOUCH your recovery drive - it's there to recover your operating system, not to store files on. If you play with it, then need to recover Windows, you'll have to buy a Windows disk. Make believe it's not there, and that your hard drive is smaller than it is.
