The Portfolio Wrap Around Book for Sale

This book was so much fun to have. I used this wrap around book to show the progression in my drawings for the first two years at The Pacific Northwest College of Art. The book is fun to show because when you observe people trying to figure out how to use it.... it's great to watch. Adults become kids again. Some get frustrated, some enjoy the act of unwrapping the book. All have really liked the idea.

This book comes with the case.

First Sketchbook for Sale

When I first started to use a sketchbook, I was humbled by how easy some artists made it look to keep a nice sketchbook. That method wasn't working for me. As I would attempt to use my expensive sketchbook, I would rip out pages as they were not to my satisfaction. In the end I felt like it was costing me more money and I wasn't having fun sketching. One book arts instructor, Barb Tetenbaum, displayed a sample of a book created from a Ritz cracker box and I thought that it was a marvelous idea on many levels and used that model to create my first sketchbook. I learned that it's important for me to create something by re-purposing products like old wallpapers or common items like cereal boxes and give them a new life. I continued the thought by creating other reasons why these types of books would be valuable. 1. Recycle the items to create a longer, sustainable use via book making where you can write, scribble, brainstorm, draw and paint; 2. The ease in making one. You don't need special tools and you can vary the paper choices; 3. A great idea to keep kids drawing and writing... the book is not intimidating, plus it was easily made, so in my case, I was more likely to use it. Thanks to Kurt Hollomon and Danny Gregory I learned to become a more competent sketcher.

This book has been inspirational to me. I hope it inspires someone else to think on paper. There are notes from school, gallery outings, a couple of artist friends drew in it and notes from my instructor.

The book comes with the magnetic closed butterfly case.

Lab Notes for sale

This book started from a dream I had as I was waking up. The dream was captured then manipulated to create this book. The dreams components were separated... for example..... How many different words were used... I created a spread sheet and broke down the words, how many 'A, B, C, D's...... were used. Then using an intuitive design sense... Just went at creating the book. At the time there was a Swedish book show at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. I know I must have been inspired by all of the fabulous books.
